This game is a retro head to head arcade style strategy game that combines many different mechanics in a fun and challenging new way that is accessible to all ages. Taking elements from fighting games, trading card games, and RPG's, With its easy to learn/difficult to master gameplay style, Winds of Destiny serves as a perfect coffee break game that you can play head to head against your friends.
I designed the game with a simple and easy to learn user interface that makes playing together quick and easy. No signing in, no waiting for a queue, just a 5 digit code and you are playing in seconds. Or if you just want to find a human competitor, you can use the matchmaking system to quickly and automatically search for players around the world. This isn’t your normal online multiplayer system. You do not have any contact with the other player. You have no way to communicate to each other, other than of course, a well placed combo to the face. I did this so that gameplay is about that, playing and mastering the game.
Lastly, I want talk about the game mechanics themselves. I designed this game with the purpose of improving ones cognition. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that you can improve your cognition, just by doing more varied and challenging mental tasks. In this game I have included elements of constant short-term memorization, timed addition and subtraction, and of course, the inherent strategy of trying to not lose. Don't take my word for it though, try it for yourself and you'll see; Winds of Destiny - Duels of the Magi was made by a gamer, for gamers.

1/29/2014 - Further patching to BSOD "black screen of death". Made improvements to multiplayer lobby. Extended multiplayer search timer to 15 minutes (up from 5 minutes).
